I picked up camera approximately when I was a 7th grader using my father's Black & White AGFA camera. After buying first DSLR Canon EOS 10D in 2005, I participated in few landscape photography workshops conducted by Yosemite Association and Ansel Adam's gallery. I was able to connect with two contemporary masters, Keith S. Walklet and Charles Cramer. Keith taught me how to raise the bar of my landscape photography. Charlie taught me the art of digital fine print making. I highly recommend their workshops. Later on I had few more opportunities to meet Keith briefly during his workshops at Yosemite Valley . Keith teaches spring and winter workshops in Yosemite through Ansel Adam's Gallery and autumn workshop in Yosemite Valley through Yosemite Association. I had very limited interaction with another legend Bill Atkinson, during an artist's reception in his honor at Ansel Adam's Gallery in Yosemite National Park. I use Bill's color profiles for EPSON printers. He shares these profiles freely "in the spirit of one artist sharing brushes with other artists". Very recently I spent one afternoon and night with Michael Frye to learn techniques of night photography at Olmsted Point, Yosemite National Park and I will take his workshop in future.
I'm fortunate to be a resident of California, which I believe to be one of the most beautiful regions of our planet. The mountains, deserts, oceans, and rivers, it's amazing diversity have provided me with an infinite source of inspiration. Every day brings here fresh hopes. And at times when the human-made world is too much to bear, there is always the real world to escape to. I do feel the sense of joy, fulfillment and peace in natural world. But it is unfortunate to see much of the natural world fall victim to shortsightedness and profiteering. I feel it is important to convey to humankind that it is the responsibility of everyone to preserve it and other miracles of nature on this planet. This beautiful planet is my home and yours. One of the primary reasons I'm here is to rejoicing and communicate the beauty of our natural world through my photography.
My teen age son Ankit has started following his father's foot steps. He loves to photograph landscape with his own Canon G10 as well as my Canon 1Ds & 40D DSLR and few lovely Canon EOS "L" lenses. He was one of the finalists and published in 2005 annual edition of the Photographer's Forum magazine. My younger son Arjun has started his brother's and father's footsteps. He also has joined the photographer's club while vacationing at Alaska in Summer 2009.
I live with my lovely wife Susmita and two sons in Fremont, California, which is very close to the beautiful California coastline and nature's temple Yosemite National Park is just 3.5 hrs driving distance.
